| Spanish Language and CultureTeacher Christine Rivera is an alumna of Bryn Mawr College with a major in Political Science and minor in Education. She has taught environmental education programs at the Wildlife Center of Virginia as well as children’s religious education classes at the Unitarian Fellowship of Waynesboro. She is a certified instructor in “The Incredible Years,” a postive parenting program aimed at increasing children’s social skills, understanding of feelings, conflict management skills and school readiness. She was formerly a Family Support Worker for Healthy Families, working with first time parents as an in-home visitor covering topics of child development and positive parenting. She is a third generation Puerto Rican/Mexican American born and raised in Los Angeles who delights in bringing to life both Spanish Language and culture for the Early Primary – Middle School students. Christina lives in Staunton with her husband, Chris, and twin sons, Andreas and Miguel, who attend NBS. | ||||
| Art and Senior Class Teacher Michael Donegan graduated from Mary Baldwin College with a B.A. in Art. As an artist-in-residence he has taught at Churchville Elementary School and has experience with a wide variety of children's art. Michael enjoys sharing his lifelong love of art and is as comfortable with a roomful of 6-year-old action painters as he is behind a computer, where he spends considerable time as a graphic designer. | Drama coach and Dramatic Improvisation Teacher Mary Coy has taught drama and voice at Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Mississippi, Woodberry Forest School, Teatro Garcia de Resende in Portugal, and is currently an adjunct professor in acting at Randolf Macon Women's College. Over the last ten years, North Branch has been fortunate to have Mary work with students and teachers on numerous productions, from St. George and the Dragon to Macbeth. Her weekly classes at NBS help 10 to 14-year olds learn to think on their feet and develop their stage skills through physical exercises, voice work, and structured improvisation experiences. | ||||
